Lance Armstrong is, arguably, the greatest American athlete of the past century and most Americans have no idea what professional cycling is all about. Just in output of energy over time, cycling makes (American) football, basketball, and baseball look like games for asthmatics suffering from tuberculosis.

Cycling doesn't get much respect here in the Great White North either. It is a grueling and impressive sport that deserves respect.
