Things I See at Work

The other day I was standing in front of 720 Olive Way waiting to pass off some work I had picked up to another messenger. As I waited, I watched a pigeon peck at something in the road. So the bird is doing its thing in the road when along comes a car. The bird tries to fly away but is not fast enough and the car hits the pigeon. This must have broken one of the bird's wings because now it can't fly at all and just helplessly flaps it's wings in the face of another oncoming car. The car hits the bird square which means the tire caught the bird perpendicular to it's body. The force of being crushed causes the pigeon's head to pop off, sending a spray of blood all over a car parked next to where I was standing.

I really had to fight the urge to snap a pic. I worried about offending the delicate sensibilities of some of my readers.

Ch-Ch-Changes

Nearing 40 years of age, I have learned that most all good things must come to an end. Good places to be, good friends, good lovers, good times, they come and they go. And so it is with careers sometimes too. A few weeks ago, the company I work for had a company wide meeting of all departments to announce impending lay-offs. And for a variety of reasons, I think I'm for the chop. Technology is to blame. We used to be in and out of the Federal courts all the time, filing cases and retrieving documents and doing all the things that legal messengers do. But now electronic signatures are recognized as legal, so lawyers can electronically file those documents without leaving their office, or having to pay us to do it, so they don't have to leave their office. DAMN YOU INTERWEB! We are already seeing the loss of revenue from this. Anyway, sooner or later this will be the case in all the courts. As I understand it, the reason its not already is because the Feds only recognized certain

Donald Rumsfeld on CNN

8:15AM Pacific Time: Sittin here watchin Wolf interview Rummy on Late Edition, and Rummy is talking about why it's not a good idea to pull out of Iraq right now. He's talking about, and I paraphrase, "If we establish a timeline for pull-out, then we're telling the insurgents that they only have to wait until we're gone, and if we do that, they will wait, and then unleash a blood bath when we're gone." Goddamit, I hate it when I have to agree with one of these trolls. But, sadly, no matter how much we hate the Bush administration, truth, from any source is still truth. And the truth is, the insurgents will wait, and they will unleash a blood-bath. What Rummy doesn't say is, all that will be our fault. I have to say it, though it pains me to do so, I do think it's irresponsible to call for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, because of what I said above. I believe that what the democrats need to keep harping on is the fact that pre-war intell

My Ass

Sprizee , in a comment on one of my posts, had this to say: "All this talk about your ass and NO PICTURE. What gives??? ;) " Mind you, I never said my ass was anything special. But I'll see if I can't get Jessica to snap a pic and I'll post it.
