First Few Days of Unemployment

Well, Thursday was wierd, just hanging out playing x-box and watching T.V. On Friday I had to go downtown so I stopped by Monorail Espresso and hung out with my friends. Everyone commented on how strange it was to se me in street clothes, as opposed to my biking gear. I think that is one thing I will enjoy about not riding for work anymore: that is, not having to wear 'gear' anymore. I was never one of those guys who rode around all winter long in cotton, just to look punk-rock. But now I get to wear regular clothes.

Jessica and I are moving this month so being unemployed is actually good 'cause I can do a lot of the moving a day at a time, and I won't get bored. But I think next month may be a different story.

We're moving north to the Lake City area and this will be the first time in 13 years I will be living out of the city. I'm a little nervous about living so far out of the city because I think I'll feel cut-off. But I can ride to Greenlake and the U District is just a ride up Roosevelt Way. Plus, I'll be closer to Rick's, which may or may not be a good thing.

Friends don't let friends vote for Bush

I have a friend who, I’m very nearly certain, voted for Bush. He told me as recently as a week prior to the election that he was considering voting for Bush because of the terrorism issue. I’m thinking very seriously about cutting him off as a friend. You see, the problem isn’t necessarily that he voted for Bush, it’s that I no longer respect him for coming to that decision. Having succumbed to America’s jingoistic view of Muslims I now think that perhaps my friend doesn’t have the intellectual agility I originally credited to him. Is there any one else out there who feels betrayed by a friend who voted for Bush? I’m interested in reader’s opinions on the matter so please post a comment.

Away Too Long

I know...I know, its been far too long since my last post. But I'm here now and I'll catch you up on everything. So, since getting laid-off, I have been thinking about going back to school. The thing is, I've been thinking about going back for 10 years, but the thought of it always filled me with terror because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. Well, I decided to go to Seattle Central and get a certificate in computer networking. My thinking is this: get certified in something that leads to working smart instead of hard. Then, that job can take me back to school for something I really want to do. So anyway, there is a program through Unemployment Insurance called the Commissioner Approved Training Plan that allows one to go to school while still recieving one's unemployment benefits, without having to do the weekly job searches. The program doesn't pay for school, it just allows one to go to school and not have to work. Sounds like a great program, huh?...

How Boring

OK, so I decided that I wasn't going to write anything political, that I was just gonna write about personal stuff. And I haven't written a thing in two weeks. How boring is my life? But I've got some stuff coming.....
