Noisy Asshole Neighbors

Up late, again, because our neighbors across the fence are noisy assholes. The people who used to live in that apartment, Sean and Michelle, were very cool people, about my age. They had jobs and we almost never heard them at all, even during the day. But they moved. Now we have about 5 or 6 twenty-somethings living there, and they are loud all the time. Normally I don't care about some noise, especially before 10:00 PM, but these people are so loud when they go outside to smoke that Jess and I actually have to turn up our TV to hear it. And after 10:00, it's just as bad. We've had to ask them a few times to quiet down at night, so you'd think they would get the message, but I guess not. I'm going to talk to them tomorrow, give being nice one more try. If that doesn't work, I guess we'll just have to start calling the cops. I've never been the cop-calling kind before, but I guess it's time to start.

Oh, and this isn't the guy who woke us up moaning last week. He live upstairs from these guys and he's normally quiet too.

Friends don't let friends vote for Bush

I have a friend who, I’m very nearly certain, voted for Bush. He told me as recently as a week prior to the election that he was considering voting for Bush because of the terrorism issue. I’m thinking very seriously about cutting him off as a friend. You see, the problem isn’t necessarily that he voted for Bush, it’s that I no longer respect him for coming to that decision. Having succumbed to America’s jingoistic view of Muslims I now think that perhaps my friend doesn’t have the intellectual agility I originally credited to him. Is there any one else out there who feels betrayed by a friend who voted for Bush? I’m interested in reader’s opinions on the matter so please post a comment.

Away Too Long

I know...I know, its been far too long since my last post. But I'm here now and I'll catch you up on everything. So, since getting laid-off, I have been thinking about going back to school. The thing is, I've been thinking about going back for 10 years, but the thought of it always filled me with terror because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. Well, I decided to go to Seattle Central and get a certificate in computer networking. My thinking is this: get certified in something that leads to working smart instead of hard. Then, that job can take me back to school for something I really want to do. So anyway, there is a program through Unemployment Insurance called the Commissioner Approved Training Plan that allows one to go to school while still recieving one's unemployment benefits, without having to do the weekly job searches. The program doesn't pay for school, it just allows one to go to school and not have to work. Sounds like a great program, huh?...

How Boring

OK, so I decided that I wasn't going to write anything political, that I was just gonna write about personal stuff. And I haven't written a thing in two weeks. How boring is my life? But I've got some stuff coming.....
