A Dark Day in American History

I've said it before and I'm saying it again now, I wish Senator Feingold
(D-Wis) was one of my senators. I wish it because he says stuff like
this: "The legislation signed by the President today violates basic
principles and values of our constitutional system of government. It
allows the government to seize individuals on American soil and detain
them indefinitely with no opportunity to challenge their detention in
court... We will look back on this day as a stain on our nation's
history."


Why can't my senators (Cantwell, Murray) say stuff like that?

Bob Newhart - Comic Genius Passes Away

 A true comic genius has passed away today. One of the first comedy albums I remember listening to as a child is "The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart." His most famous shtick was the telephone conversation where the audience hears only his end of the call. The most famous and best of this is the " Introducing Tobacco to Civilization " skit.

Republican Desperation

Consider for a moment: The republicans have already resorted to vote fraud in both the 2000 and 2004 elections, engaged in illegal redistricting in Texas in order to gain more seats in the House of Representatives, and propagated the most vile smear campaigns against Democratic party candidates at all levels, just to name a few things. Now consider that the republicans have to know that the Democrats stand a very good chance of regaining the upper hand in both the House and the Senate in the up-coming elections. If this happens, the Democrats will have subpoena powers to compel the release of documents that will undoubtedly show the world exactly what kind of thuggery the republicans have been engaged in. The republicans have to know that impeachment procedures will be initiated in the Senate against President Bush for his crimes against, and lies to the American people.
