Vacation Pics

So, Jessica, my mother and I went on vacation together for a week last week and we all had an excelent time. We spent three days on the Olympic Peninsula and two days at Ocean Shores, Washington. The Peninsula is really beautiful. We went to the Hoh Rainforest, which is the only temperate rainforest on the North American continent, and hiked around there for a whole day. It would seem that the term "lush" was invented to describe this place as there was moss growing everywhere. Everywhere one looks it looks soft enough to lay down and take a nap! On our last day on the peninsula, we went to some hot springs and just soaked and relaxed for a few hours.

Ocean Shores is very "touristie" but still cool. We rented a moped and had lots of fun cruising around on the beach. We also went to the Quinault Casino and spent way too much money, but it was fun. I never understood how people could get addicted to gambling, but now I do. When you're playing the slots, there is the feeling that the next push of the button could bring you big money. It never does, but there is that expectation. Anyhoo, here are some pictures........

Away Too Long

I know...I know, its been far too long since my last post. But I'm here now and I'll catch you up on everything. So, since getting laid-off, I have been thinking about going back to school. The thing is, I've been thinking about going back for 10 years, but the thought of it always filled me with terror because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. Well, I decided to go to Seattle Central and get a certificate in computer networking. My thinking is this: get certified in something that leads to working smart instead of hard. Then, that job can take me back to school for something I really want to do. So anyway, there is a program through Unemployment Insurance called the Commissioner Approved Training Plan that allows one to go to school while still recieving one's unemployment benefits, without having to do the weekly job searches. The program doesn't pay for school, it just allows one to go to school and not have to work. Sounds like a great program, huh?...

Donald Rumsfeld on CNN

8:15AM Pacific Time: Sittin here watchin Wolf interview Rummy on Late Edition, and Rummy is talking about why it's not a good idea to pull out of Iraq right now. He's talking about, and I paraphrase, "If we establish a timeline for pull-out, then we're telling the insurgents that they only have to wait until we're gone, and if we do that, they will wait, and then unleash a blood bath when we're gone." Goddamit, I hate it when I have to agree with one of these trolls. But, sadly, no matter how much we hate the Bush administration, truth, from any source is still truth. And the truth is, the insurgents will wait, and they will unleash a blood-bath. What Rummy doesn't say is, all that will be our fault. I have to say it, though it pains me to do so, I do think it's irresponsible to call for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, because of what I said above. I believe that what the democrats need to keep harping on is the fact that pre-war intell...

Michael Moore's New Movie

Democrats Warm To 'Fahrenheit 9/11' (washingtonpost.com) "The usual arguments against Moore -- that he's intellectually dishonest, that he's a master of the cheap shot, that he's a loudmouthed neo-Marxist boor -- are beside the point against the power of such moments. After the weapons of mass destruction fallacy and the Saddam-did-9/11 fictions, it's payback time. The left can have a Rush Limbaugh, too." -- Lifted from the Artical
